So how can you contain the paving perimeter that actually works. This method is a variation to MRDWA specs for crossovers on highways like Leach Highway.
You dig under the pavers as you normally do making sure that you get under the paver consistently along the length.
A concrete mix is used. These materials can be collected by trailer. You can buy a blended mixture of sand and blue metal or blue metal road base is sufficient.
Now just mix 15 shovels to one bag of cement. You can use oxide colouring or cream cement. Then place the concrete but also place a length of 6mm galvanised steel rod in the concrete.
Now you need a wooden pencil float used by plasterers and a concrete bull nosed finishing trowel. It does make the margins easier to achieve if the pencil float and trowel are same width. I think I use a 40 mm width
The first step is to run the pencil float so that the top face of the float is level with the top of the brick paving. The object is to get the concrete face to same margin to the top of the paver.
Now use the bullnose trowel to create the finished product. It does take a bit of practice and trowel skills but the end result is unsurpassed.
With regards to it's ability to hold brick paving in position, it will handle a 200 series cruiser turning into a single car width crossover. It also doubles as mowing strip where you can run the lawn mower wheels along the concrete.
